Stone, a longtime friend of former President Donald Trump, was convicted by a federal jury in Washington on seven counts of lying to Congress, obstructing justice, and tampering with witnesses before his sentence was commuted and eventually pardoned.
The Stones would not have paid income tax on properties they owned through their company Drake Ventures to “ protect their personal income from forced debt collection and fund a lavish lifestyle, ” the court document said.
“Drake Ventures exists as a vehicle to receive income that belongs to the Stones and to pay for their personal expenses,” the lawsuit reads.
“Recognizing Drake Ventures as a separate entity despite these facts would penalize the Stones’ attempts to evade their tax liabilities and hide their assets from debt collection by creditors.”
The Justice Department said Roger and Nydia, who each hold a 50 percent stake in the company, “dominated and controlled Drake Ventures to such an extent that it does not exist as an independent entity.”
The business has no website and no phone number, and the address listed for the business is the home where they live. The company has been administratively dissolved twice by the Florida Secretary of State.
“ The Stones used Drake Ventures to pay Roger Stone employees, their relatives and other entities without providing the required 1099-MISC (miscellaneous income) or W-2s (payroll and tax returns) forms, ” the court document reads.
The Stones used Drake Ventures to transfer $ 140,000 to Attorney’s Preferred Title Inc. in February 2019. as a down payment for the purchase of their home and deposited numerous checks with the name Roger Stone as beneficiary into Drake Ventures’ accounts.
“They used Drake Ventures to receive payments due personally to Roger Stone, to pay for their personal expenses, protect their assets, and avoid reporting taxable income to the IRS,” the lawsuit reads.

Stone, a longtime friend of former President Donald Trump, served briefly as his campaign advisor.
He was convicted by a federal jury in Washington on seven counts of lying to Congress, obstruction of justice, and tampering with witnesses in connection with Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into electoral interference in 2016.
Trump commuted Stone’s sentence in July 2020 and pardoned him presidential in December, avoiding a 40-month jail term.
Stone said in a statement against CNN on Friday that “the government’s statement is ridiculous.”
“ They are well aware that my two-year battle against the Epically corrupt Mueller investigation left my wife and I on the brink of bankruptcy, ” said Stone, even though the missing tax payments occurred long before his legal woes.
‘I have continued to earn my living through my company Drake Ventures. It will be ridiculous in court to describe my current lifestyle as ‘lavish’. The political motivation of the DOJ will be abundantly clear during the process. ‘
