Jon Bon Jovi says his ‘aspiring’ actor son won’t be hired for roles because auditions are being held via Zoom.
The Livin’ On A Prayer rocker lamented the modern trend and said casting agents are missing out on the opportunity to witness the “magic” of his son Jake Bongiovi, 21, when he walks into a room.
“My son is a young aspiring actor,” says the 62-year-old.
‘He would have that magic when he walked into a room for an audition, but it turned up during Covid and now everything is on Zoom.
“All these casting agents are missing the personality of the young actor, winning your heart, not just reading your lines.”

His acting career has yet to reach the dizzying heights of that of his Hollywood star fiancée, Millie Bobby Brown.
The model will make his film debut in this year’s Rockbottom, in which he channels his father as he takes the stage in the rock ‘n’ roll comedy about an ’80s hair metal band called CougarSnake that makes an unexpected return.
In the trailer for the film, which will be available to stream on Prime Video starting March 28, Bongiovi transforms from a pizza delivery boy to a lead singer of the aging rock band, and is attacked by a group of women older on stage.
Bongiovi also starred in another film called Sweethearts and is the third of four children of Jon Bon Jovi and his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley.
He told Man About Town magazine in 2022 that he intended to continue carving out an acting career rather than follow in his father’s rock ‘n’ roll footsteps.
When asked if he fancied a career in music, he said: “I think I’ll leave it to my dad!” There you can’t really follow the act.
He shared: ‘There was always music playing in the house growing up, all different types of genres from all different types of worlds. But what spoke to me were the people on the screen, not the voices through the speakers.’
But his acting career has yet to reach the heady heights of that of his Hollywood star fiancée, Millie Bobby Brown.
The English actress became an internationally recognized child star in the smash hit Stranger Things.

She is currently gearing up for the fifth and final season of the hit Netflix series and was previously cast to star in the hit Enola Holmes movies, as well as landing a role in the 2019 monster movie Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Brown takes a leading role in Damsel, an upcoming fantasy drama co-starring Ray Winstone, Brooke Carter, Robin Wright and Angela Bassett.
Bongiovi struck up a friendship with Brown on Instagram, where the pair bonded.
They were first seen as a couple in June 2021 and announced their engagement in April 2023.
At the time, Brown uploaded a black and white photo in which Jake lovingly hugged the actress from behind while she showed off the diamond engagement ring on her finger.
“I’ve loved you three summers, baby, I love them all,” he wrote, referencing lyrics from Taylor Swift’s song Lover.
Brown revealed to The Tonight Show that the romantic Bongiovi had proposed underwater while on vacation, as the couple had bonded over their love of diving.
“He gives me a shell, I turn it over and it’s a ring,” he recalled. While underwater, she made an OK sign with her hand to say yes to the proposal.

“I met her last year,” the Livin’ On A Prayer hitmaker said of Brown, adding, “She works very hard and she and Jake will grow together in their own ways.”
Brown added: “He was a really big part of me loving myself and becoming a woman.” It was like, “Wow, I really love this person because he allows me to love myself.”

‘I’ve never felt alone in this, which I think is really nice. I always say, ‘Is this a good idea? Is this a good idea?’ But ultimately it’s a very intimate day for both of us and we’re really, really excited.”
