Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda to direct zom-com Lisa Frankenstein starring Cole Sprouse

The only daughter of the late Robin Williams, Zelda will make her directorial debut in Focus Features’ zomcom Lisa Frankenstein, which was written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody.

“I know Hollywood gets a bad rap for spitting out sequels and remakes and reboots over and over…and yes, it totally does!” the 32-year-old filmmaker tweeted on Wednesday.

“But it also allows me to finally create the most insanely beautiful zombie script I’ve ever read, and I’ll be eternally grateful to you for that!”

Zelda was previously responsible for the 2020 short Kappa Kappa Die, the 2018 short Shrimp, a 2019 episode of Dark/Web, and seven music videos.

“Also to everyone who comes here to say, ‘This is your first feature?!” It wasn’t meant to be,’ Williams continued

“I’ve made three movies fall apart before, because movies often do. It was discouraging to say the least. But the fact that this one survived and thrived to be my first? A damn present.’

Kathryn Newton, alum of Big Little Lies, stars as an unpopular high school student who accidentally revives a handsome Victorian corpse (Riverdale heartthrob Cole Sprouse) during a thunderstorm in 1989.
