Lewandowski completed the 2019-20 campaign as a top scorer with 34 goals, leading Bayern to an eighth straight title.
The Pool is also likely to contribute to its 11 Champions League goals with the league returning next month.
Flick believes that Lewandowski’s impressive form guarantees him a place in the race for the Ballon d’Or.
After Bayern Munich’s 4-2 victory over Leverkusen, Flick said: ‘Fifty-one goals are already very strong. The first goal that Lewy scored, the third goal we scored, was already excellent.

“The way he takes the ball there and the way he traps. Of course he is also lucky with that. But that is what distinguishes him, that he is confident in his quality.
“If I measure goals now and I see that he scored 34 goals in the Bundesliga this year, you can think of how a player from the Bundesliga can become the Ballon d’Or winner. So why not? He laid the foundation for this achievement this year and I wish him the best. ‘
Barcelona star Lionel Messi won the Ballon d’Or in 2019, over Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The last Bayern player to receive the award was Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in 1981.
