Robert Irwin shares footage of being bitten by a snake … just like Steve Irwin did years ago

In recent years he has become the expressive image of the late his father Steve Irwin.

On Saturday, Robert Irwin proved that their likeness is not just about looks, as he shared almost identical images of being accidentally bitten by a snake.

While filming the Animal Planet series Crickey! It’s The Irwins, the 16-year-old Wildlife Warrior who sat on a carpet python before everything suddenly went wrong.

“Are you going to be cranky or are you going to be nice?” Robert asked the snake in the images as he took it out of the safety bag.

He continued, “It’s okay, you’re going back home. There you go buddy. There is a good hose.

“Aren’t they just the coolest? I love carpet pythons. That’s a good carpet python. That’s so cool. I have to tell you when I first found this man … “

Robert was cut off when the snake snapped at his face quickly, making the teenager growl in surprise.

He then cut to the images of his father Steve holding a snake in rural Queensland on his own show, The Crocodile Hunter.

The snake threw himself on Steve’s face in a similar way, to which the Crocodile Hunter responded only “son of a gun” before continuing his spiel as if nothing happened.

Robert also shared a side-by-side comparison, with both himself and Steve smiling at the camera despite their bloody wounds.

Robert and his sister Bindi tragically lost their father Steve in 2006, after the iconic Australian star was pierced in the chest by a stingray while filming a wildlife documentary.

The post comes as the Irwin family gears up for their latest Animal Planet TV series titled Crikey! It’s the Irwins: Life in Lockdown, which tackles the financial difficulties their zoo has faced during the three-month COVID-19 lockdown.

Australia Zoo reopened to the public earlier this month, on June 12, with social distance measures.
