Rita Ora has revealed she has “stopped trying to impress people” since meeting her husband, New Zealand director and actor Taika Waititi.
The How We Do hitmaker, 33, married the JoJo Rabbit writer, 48, in a secret ceremony in 2022, but the couple didn’t reveal they had tied the knot until the following year.
Rita graced the cover of Marie Claire Spain for their August issue, where she wore an array of stunning looks from their Primark ‘Festival’ collection, including a daring sheer gold dress and a busty black corset.
As part of an interview for the article, she gave a candid confession about the biggest lesson she learned since getting married.
“I’ve stopped trying to impress people,” Rita said, “and I wish I had done it before I got married, because it makes no difference.

“You have to live your life for yourself and, you know, when I was in my twenties, I always thought that everyone did. And I was doing everything I could to impress everyone. And it’s really exhausting.”
Rita added: ‘I think in life you have to be happy with yourself, but you have to make the change.
“If you don’t like something, you should make that decision for yourself, not for other people.”
In the interview, Rita also spoke about her upbringing in Notting Hill, London, after being born in Yugoslavia (now Kosovo) to Albanian parents.
“I grew up in an area mixed with many cultures and ethnicities and I was a girl from another country, but my class was full of immigrants,” she said.
“And I think that’s why I love London. It’s a mix of very different and cool people, and from all over the place. I was very lucky because I never felt ‘different’.”

Ask & You Shall Receive is Rita’s latest release following the success of her 2023 top ten album, You & I.
Speaking about the latest release, Rita said: ‘The song is full of happy, summery vibes and is all about seizing the moment romantically and diving straight into that special someone.’
“It was co-written by the amazing Raye, which feels like a full circle moment as I have so many amazing memories from when we were on the road together for the Phoenix tour.”
The singer even convinced her husband Taika Waititi to work on the daring clip, although the Hollywood director was not scheduled to make an appearance until the day of filming.
