A 77-year-old Australian man died in Bali after falling down some stairs and crashing into a glass.

A local media outlet has identified Rita Myrsel Lubin as the victim of the terrible fall on Sunday afternoon in the southeast of the island.

It is understood that Mrs Lubin was staying at Villa Seriska Satu in Sanur with her 54-year-old son, Louis Jean Francois Lubin, and other family members.

Spokesman Ketut Sukadi said Lubin was walking through the Sindhu night market on his way to the beach when he “lost his balance” around 12 noon.

Australian tourist Rita Myrsel Lubin died in Sanur, Bali, on Sunday after crashing into glass at a local market.

It is understood Ms Lubin was walking through the Sindhu night market (pictured) on her way to the beach.

“When the victim came down the stairs, he lost his balance and fell against a glass wall in one of the art stores,” he said.

‘Locals at the market immediately helped the victim and tried to call the victim’s son to his village.

‘The victim’s son immediately took her to the nearest hospital, Bali Mandara Hospital. However, the victim died because she lost too much blood.

Lubin filed a report with local police on Monday and arranged for his mother’s body to be transported to Australia.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokesperson said it is “providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian woman who died in Bali.”

“We send our deepest condolences to the family at this difficult time,” they said.

“Due to our privacy obligations we are unable to comment further.”
