Country star Joshua Ray Walker has shared the heartbreaking update that his cancer has spread to both lungs.
Joshua, 33, who revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with bowel cancer, took to Instagram earlier this week to update his fans with the unfortunate news that the disease had spread.
“Hi everyone! Once again, I have some good news and some bad news to share with you,” the singer from Dallas, Texas, began the text of the message.
‘The good news is that I finished chemotherapy treatment. It was very difficult and I want to thank everyone for supporting me during this experience.
Joshua Ray Walker took to Instagram to share the sad news that despite successfully undergoing treatment for colon cancer, his doctors discovered cancer in his lungs.
‘My body handled it reasonably well and I started to rebuild my strength and immune system.’
She went on to share that she had also received bad news: that the cancer had spread to her lungs.
“The bad news is that when I had tests to check the status of my cancer after treatment, they found multiple lymph nodes of different sizes in both lungs,” he explained.
“Before I started chemotherapy, I was told I had a 90 percent chance of having clear test results after treatment,” she continued.
‘So finding a completely new growth on a new organ was something I wasn’t prepared for.
“Unfortunately, this means my cancer will likely be reclassified to stage 4,” Joshua shared.
“I will be having a lung biopsy and will soon begin radiation therapy. I would like to have more information to share, but I am still waiting to meet with a radiation oncologist after the biopsy surgery.
“I will keep you as informed as possible and continue to fight with all my might,” he promised.
Before the discovery of the cancer in his lungs, Joshua had been given a 90 percent chance of recovering from his colon cancer.
“The odds have definitely changed” since the discovery of cancer in his lungs, Joshua admitted.
‘The odds have definitely changed, but I’m not going to post them here.
“I think it’s defeatist and unnecessary. I’ll tell you what they were like after I beat them. I’ve always lived life to the fullest and I’ll continue to do so,” he said.
He went on to admit that the astronomical costs of treatment have left him struggling financially.
“When times are tough, my instinct tells me to find a way to survive financially. I work harder to make sure that I and my loved ones have the basic necessities,” he explained.
‘This trait has served me well in life, but it makes it difficult to rest when life’s difficulties are not solely monetary.
‘I find it hard to ask for help, even when I think I’ll be glad to get it. I’m throwing a tantrum GoFundMe which will allow me to focus exclusively on my health and relationships during this precious time.
“I thank you all in advance for your continued love and support. I love you all so much,” the post concluded.
The singer is much loved for his hits Lot Lizard and Sexy After Dark. He has also supported The Killers and toured the country.
It was in December 2023 that Joshua was diagnosed with colon cancer.
He has since undergone “extensive surgery” as well as six months of chemotherapy, plus a battery of tests, procedures and doctor visits.
As of September 11, her GoFundMe has raised nearly $67,000 from 932 donors.
Colon cancer has become something of an epidemic among people under 50, with rates skyrocketing since the new millennium, as DailyMail.com previously reported.
