MANILA, Philippines — Opposition Senator Risa Hontiveros again rebuked Vice President Sara Duterte after it was revealed that her office spent the P125 million confidential allocation in just 11 days.
In a statement Tuesday, Hontiveros pointed out that confidential funds can only be spent on expenses supporting surveillance activities of civilian agencies.
“Can there still be magic to use the P125M at 11 years old? Hindi na lang yan editions. Yan ay paglapastangan sa mamamayan,” Hontiveros said.
(What kind of magic did they use to spend 125 million euros in just eleven days? That’s not a spending spree. That’s an insult to the people.)
HOntiveros said that if the 125 million euro fund was indeed spent within 11 days, the Vice President’s Office would maximize the resources by spending 11 million euros per day.
“Babalik lang tayo sa paulit-ulit na tanong: Saan niyo dinala ang pera? Naghihintay ng resibo ang buong Pilipinas,” she added.
(We’ll just go back to the same question: where did you get the money? The whole country is waiting for an explanation.)
IIt was Marikina Second District Representative Stella Quimbo who initially disclosed and confirmed that the P125 million confidential allocation was issued in just 11 days, as opposed to previous reports of 19 days.
