New Yorkers who passed through City Hall in Manhattan this morning enjoyed an unusual sight: the former Beatles drummer and the newly appointed gentleman Ringo Starr lying on a king-size bed with John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, and "The Dude" of The Big Lebowski.

The trick was part of a "banquet" inspired by the famous Vietnam War protests of Ono and Lennon in 1969, to support the public schools of New York City.

Starry's former bandmate, Starr, whose real name is Richard Starkey, and Ono were joined on the steps of City Hall by actor Jeff Bridges, Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council Speaker Corey Johnson.

During Thursday's event, Ono, 85, Starr, 78, and Bridges, 68, climbed into a large white bed, surrounded by a crowd of children and dignitaries who hailed them.

"It's an amazing day for me to finally go to bed with Yoko," joked Starr, sporting a totally black outfit and his signature sunglasses.

Ono, lying next to his late husband's band mate, smiled and said: "I think maybe John is listening to us. Give peace a chance … just remember that we are creating the world. "

Ono and Starr have been friends for many years. When the renowned musician was awarded the knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II for his "services to music" earlier this year, Lennon's widow sent a warm tweet congratulating him.

After listening to the famous trio, a band performed "Imagine" by Lennon, during which the mayor of Blasio showed the sign of peace while holding Ono's hand.

Bridges joined the festivities as the national spokesperson for the nonprofit group. We share our strength to promote the No Kid Hungry child nutrition program.
