Kind-hearted Australians have rallied to support the heartbroken mother of a baby who died at a family daycare.
Riley Ma was found unconscious at the Wakerley facility in Brisbane’s east at about 3.30pm on Monday and could not be revived.
The one-year-old boy is believed to have suffered a suspected medical episode.
The loss of their only child has devastated Riley’s parents, who are dealing with her maternal grandmother’s battle with stage four cancer.
Since then, generous Australians have raised more than $11,000 in a matter of hours to help the family after a GoFundMe It was released on Wednesday night.
Yang Zhao, a family friend and fundraiser organizer, said she was holding the “happy, smiling” boy last week and now “can’t believe he’s in another world.”
“Riley’s parents, our dear friends, are devastated as they deal with this unimaginable pain,” Ms. Zhao wrote.
‘We are raising funds to support them with funeral expenses, legal assistance and their fight for justice. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference during this difficult time.

Riley appeared to be in good spirits when he was dropped off at daycare around 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Just hours later, Riley’s father received the devastating phone call that the boy could not be saved, despite the best efforts of paramedics.
His devastated mother said she cannot comprehend what has happened and is still in shock that her only son is no longer with her.

The 36-year-old Chinese national said emergency services did not allow her to say goodbye to Riley after she rushed into the centre on Monday afternoon.
She also claimed that her husband was able to hug Riley before her body was taken away.
“I can’t drink, I can’t eat, I can’t sleep, I miss my little one,” she said.

Katrina Zhang, a close family friend, told the newspaper that Riley appeared to have struggled during her final moments.
Ms Zhang said Riley’s lips were purple and his fists were clenched tightly.
He said paramedics were already on the scene when Riley’s father arrived.
Riley’s mother revealed that she faces the difficult task of telling her mother that her beloved grandson has died.
She told her mother that Riley is sick, but admitted that her mother will soon find out about the tragedy.
Police are investigating Riley’s death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
