Rihanna takes Prince’s hand while wearing a discreet splint
Looks like Charles’ handshake was a bonebreaker, Rihanna! Singer grabs Prince’s hand while wearing a discreet splint before being spotted wearing a more protective brace three days later
Meeting Royalty is usually a momentous occasion, but Rihanna’s meeting with Prince Charles can bring back painful memories for the pop idol.
The 33-year-old was presented to the heir apparent last week at the historic ceremony that marked Barbados’ transition from a constitutional monarchy to a republic.
The Umbrella singer—born in St Michael and declared a National Hero of Barbados during the celebrations—quickly grabbed Charles’ hand when it was her turn to meet him, despite obviously a discreet splint on her right fingers.
As a sign that Charles’s grip might surprise her, she was spotted three days after the ceremony in New York with a sturdier brace protecting her injured fingers.
The Prince of Wales has developed a reputation for a firm handshake after decades of ceremonial duties. In 2012, shortly after meeting the prince, New Zealander Ann Loader said, “I thought he was going to break my fingers.”
