FC Twente played a great first half against Go Ahead Eagles on Sunday afternoon. In their own Veste, the team forgot to distance themselves from the opponent. Ricky van Wolfswinkel felt in the second half that the match at Twente slipped out of the hands.
“You can see it coming, the second half”, that’s how Van Wolfswinkel starts in front of the camera at ESPN. That might make it even more painful. You feel like you lose two points, but that was right.”
In the first half in particular, FC Twente has failed itself enormously. “Certainly, we just have to score more goals”, Van Wolfswinkel also saw. “We could have done that in the first half, the second half too. The difference between the first half and the second half was big, that’s a shame. Then you run into a penalty.”
It is difficult to say when the tipping point came in the game. “I think that was the rest”, analyzes the striker. “I noticed quite quickly in the second half that we lacked some energy from everyone. We might have thought it would be a little easier, but of course that didn’t happen. We couldn’t get out well, were sloppy on the ball and then you have to go back too.”
