In the document, former member Angelo Garcia, who joined in 1988 when he was just 11 and left two years later, claimed that band manager Edgardo Diaz had him raped “a number of times” by “predators” during his time in the band. ‘ who ‘would take advantage of him’.
He said the first time it happened was in his hotel room with an unknown man, who gave the then 11-year-old alcohol until he “fainted.”
“When I woke up, I was naked and bleeding, so I knew I had been penetrated,” Garcia said in the documentary, according to the New York Post†
“I had these burn marks on my face from the carpet… I was very confused and didn’t understand.”
Other members of the group also claimed in the documentary that they experienced sexual abuse during their time with Menudo, as well as drug use, negligence, exploitation and bullying by other members — all under Diaz’s watchful eye.

The most famous member of Menudo was undoubtedly Martin, who joined the group in 1984 when he was 13 and left five years later, and it is said that the time of the hitmaker of Livin’ La Vida Loca in Menudo marked the start of his great music career. used to be.
Ray Acevedo, who was in Menudo from 1985 to 1988, claimed that the Martin was the “golden kid” from the start, and said he made it known to the other members. Band member Sergio Blass echoed Acevedo’s claims.
“It was brutal being with Ricky because he was a higher rank than me, so if someone knocked on the door, I had to open it,” Blass recalls.
“When the phone rang, I had to pick it up. I was like his housewife.’
Acevedo recalled the brutal hazing by other members, including one – whom he did not name – who once held him over the ledge of a balcony.

Over the years, the band saw a slew of members come and go, and there were over 30 different people over the years.
According to the doc, Diaz had a ‘Fountain of Youth strategy’ for Menudo, which meant that if one of the members grew too old, they were replaced (often by age 16) – allowing the band to continue its success and become profitable. stay for many years.
Numerous men who used to be in the band claimed that they were often unsupervised or protected and exposed to drugs such as marijuana and cocaine by various “producers and promoters.”
‘Once we were in Colombia, I’m with’ [fellow Menudo member] Ruben [Gómez]and we’re going to the hotel,” former Member Blass said in the document.
‘We’re going into our room. Suddenly this random guy comes in… And he pulls out what must have been about a kilo of cocaine.
“We panicked because we didn’t know this person… But the man was actually one of the producers and promoters.”
And it turns out this isn’t the first time members have spoken out about alleged abuse.
Many members previously accused Diaz of exposing them to sexual assault in 1991, and they have continued to make these claims over the years on live TV shows and in interviews.
Diaz, who declined to participate in the new document, has continuously denied the allegations.
