Pop star Ricki Lee Coulter’s new tune is the most personal release of her career.
Aussie chart-topper, 37, released her latest single “On My Own” across streaming platforms on Friday.
She posted the cover artwork to Instagram before the upward track peaked at number two on the Australian iTunes Singles Chart as of Saturday evening.
Ricki-Lee told her fans the song took her “whole life” to tell them when she introduced them to the deeply personal song in a touching Instagram post.
“I’ve been trying to write this song my whole life,” she said, “It’s everything I ever wanted to say in a song.”

Coulter joined her friends and fellow NOVAs Tim Blackwell and Joel Cressey at a listening party on Friday.

In a short clip shared on social media, the crew gathered around a TV while listening to the new single with great enthusiasm.
They could all be seen cheering as the track started while Ricky Lee was screaming and screaming.

The 37-year-old recently told The Daily Telegraph that she’s “very proud” of herself after nearly 20 years in the music industry.
“I’m really proud that I went on with my career for nearly 20 years and had all the amazing, crazy successes that I had, but I worked it out,” she said.
Speaking about her new single, she said, “Whatever I’ve been through in my life, personal or in my career, the ups and downs, I know I’ll always figure it out.”
“And when I say this song is about my life, that’s what I mean.”
Rikki Lee rose to fame after hitting the top 10 on Australian Idol in 2004.

She said recently, “I’m really proud that I went on with my career for nearly 20 years and had all the crazy, amazing successes I had, but I worked it out.”
It finished seventh, and the talented performer has been an integral part of the music industry ever since.
This year she co-presented the Channel 7 reboot with Scott Tweedy.
Ricki-Lee recently revealed the reason she came back to Australian Idol 19 years ago after the show made her famous.
Ricky Lee told 7News, “This show made all my childhood dreams come true.
“When I was a little girl, all I wanted to do was be on stage and perform for people, and make music that makes people feel something.”
Ricky Lee also hosted last year’s season of Australia’s Got Talent on Seven, and was there to comfort the contestants behind the scenes.
The Gold Coast native has had four No. 1 songs on the ARIA Dance Chart, ten No. 1 singles on the ARIA Singles Chart, two top 10 entries on the ARIA Albums Chart, and has amassed over 75 million streams.
