Selena Gomez was candid about her breakup on social media, revealing it had been the “most rewarding gift” to herself.
The Love On singer, 31, who recently put on a radiant display arriving on the set of Only Murders In The Building, spoke about the topic during the Time 100 Summit on Wednesday in New York.
The star, who had let her team manage her account for about four years, has taken breaks from the app, including a brief break earlier this year in January.
“Well, I took four years off of Instagram and I let my team post for me during those years,” he explained, according to Time. “I felt like it was the most rewarding gift he had ever given me.”
Gomez added, “I think people, especially little kids, are sitting so focused on what seems wonderful when everything that should be wonderful to you doesn’t come from here.”

“I was actually getting real phone calls from people telling me their story and I could listen to them instead of saying, ‘Oh, I know what you did today.’ It’s like more human.”
Now that she has her own Instagram account again, the star explained why it can sometimes be “frustrating.”
“I just find it frustrating and then I get a little loudmouthed and want to defend the people I love,” Selena admitted during the panel discussion.
Regarding social media, the Single Soon hitmaker expressed that “it’s important to take breaks.” So I try to… I don’t really pay much attention. I’ll just do things here and there.
