Ricky Gervais boosts his UK fortune to £16m after enjoying TV success during lockdown
Ricky Gervais, 59, has seen his fortune in the UK soar to nearly £16 million during the pandemic, figures for his business empire show.
The After Life star’s fortune has increased by £2.7 million in the past year as his TV shows continued to be successful during the lockdown.
His main business Red Lion 100 Limited saw its value rise by £1.2m to £8.6m from April last year to the end of March this year.

But despite the huge jump in the company’s fortunes, Ricky, the company’s sole shareholder, chose not to pay himself a dividend from the company’s funds.
Last year he raised £505,000.
Another company Red Lion 99 LLP increased by £1.4 million to £3.5 million.
Derek Productions Limited saw its fortune grow by £100,000, while two other companies remained stable with around £800,000 in ownership.

Ricky saw huge success when last year season two of Afterlife streamed on Netflix became one of the hits of the first lockdown.
As a result, the star signed a new deal with Netflix to write a third season, which is currently being filmed.
The figures do not include cash earned by Ricky’s US branch, which is boosted by royalty payments from the US version of his hit series The Office.
The show added millions to its wealth as it turned out to be a huge hit that ran for nine seasons until 2013.
Bills for Red Lion 100 show the company owes its US company – named Gervais Ink Inc – £451,000.
Ricky’s total net worth is estimated at $140 million.

Ricky, who stars and writes on After Life, has confirmed that season three will begin shooting in March.
Since its release, After Life fans have been raving about the second season, which continues to follow the story of grieving local newspaper reporter Tony—played by Ricky—as he begins to gain his courage through his adoring support network.
Set in the small fictional town of Tambury, the show explores Tony’s struggle with immense grief for his wife. In the plot, Tony tries to become a better friend to those around him – each of whom struggles with their own problems.
In the latest series, things intensified as the threat of the local newspaper shutting down grew, causing everyone to panic at the prospect of unemployment.
The characters turn to Am-Dram as a way to cheer – with hilarious results.
In addition to Ricky, the cast includes Penelope Wilton, Ashley Jensen, Bill Ward, Tom Basden, Joe Wilkinson, Kerry Godliman, Roisin Conaty and Diane Morgan.
