Football star Jayden Short has become engaged to his childhood sweetheart Maddy Bekiaris.
The 27-year-old Richmond midfielder announced the happy news on Instagram on Tuesday after popping the question in Italy’s Cinque Terre earlier this week.
The couple couldn’t hide their joy as they beamed on a beach while showing off the six-diamond wraparound ring.
The lovebirds captioned the image: ‘CIAO FIANCEE!!’ and were soon flooded with sympathizers.
“Congratulations again, beautiful humans,” Tayla Broad wrote, alongside several love heart emojis, before adding, “Ps I could stare at this ring all day.”

Jayden and Maddy have known each other for over a decade and were friends in 2012.
This was the year Short was in the AFL rookie draft. A year later, he made his senior debut.
