Richard Madeley reveals that he came ‘terrifyingly close’ to being shot by a cop while on vacation in the US.
Richard Madeley has recounted the “terrifying” moment when he was nearly shot by a US cop after accidentally speeding while on a vacation on the US side with his family.
Richard, 64, was enjoying a road trip with his wife Judy Finnigan and their four children when a police car asked him to stop. The ensuing altercation left his youngest daughter, Chloe, crying.

According to The Sun, bosses will test Richard with a guest stint this summer, hoping he will be a good fit to replace Piers thanks to his journalistic background and no-nonsense approach during interviews.
A source said: “Piers is nearly impossible to replace and GMB executives accept this, but Richard has his own inimitable style.
Like Piers, he’s a trained journalist who knows how to squeeze guests and get a decent “line” of interviewees.
‘He shoots from the hip, says what he thinks, and is a really brilliant, lovable guy out of the blue – so it’s really a’ look at this space ‘.’
MailOnline has contacted representatives for Good Morning Britain and Richard Madeley for comment.
The reports come just days after Richard himself said he would be open to filling Piers’s seat at GMB.

He said to Metro, “If the phone rang and they said,” Would you like to come and talk? ” of course I would talk to them. It would be crazy not to. But I really enjoy being in front of people. I have all the fun and very little responsibility or air defense. ‘
And while Piers regularly deals with trolls on Twitter, Richard insists he “ doesn’t care ” about what they would say about him if he left himself open to criticism by expressing his views on the show.
He said of the opportunity to take on trolls: ‘I personally couldn’t give a ***. Far too many younger presenters have been affected and intimidated by it.
‘I remember when I started playing Piers on Good Morning Britain, I would check out Twitter after doing a show and, yes, you get nice responses, but you also get horrible abuse and the occasional death threats . ‘
I would do it! It comes after Richard said he would be ‘crazy’ not to accept the chance to fill Piers’s seat on the show, adding that he doesn’t ‘f ** k’ about being cheated on for his views
