Richard E. Grant got into the party spirit to celebrate his daughter Olivia’s 36th birthday on Sunday.

The actor, 67, opted for a daring outfit to attend his daughter’s graduation party, bringing out his old purple suit that he wore when he starred in the Spice Girls movie Spice World in 1997.

The star played Clifford, the girl group’s manager, in the adventure film in which the iconic girl group travels around London, performs for their fans and gets into hilarious trouble.

And to celebrate his daughter’s birthday, the veteran actor dusted off his costume, almost 30 years after he last wore it, to ring in the celebrations with her.

Richard shared two touching snaps on his Instagram of himself posing alongside his casting director daughter in the eye-catching outfit.

In the Instagram post, the Saltburn star struck a series of silly poses while wearing a pair of purple trousers with a matching shirt which he rolled up the sleeves and a large tie.

She posed proudly alongside her daughter, who looked beautiful in a fitted black dress with silver sequin embellishments over the bust and a thigh-high slit.

The duo seemed to be having a lot of fun with Olivia holding a cup and smiling while her father smiled and pointed at her.

And the costume also had emotional meaning for the star, who revealed that she had landed the role in the musical film when her daughter was just eight years old and could never forget how excited she was to meet the girl group.

Richard captioned the sweet snaps: ‘Our darling daughter @oliviagranted chose a prom theme for her 36th birthday last night and insisted I wear my purple Clifford suit from SPICEWORLD THE MOVIE that has been zipped up in the loft for 28 years.

“I was offered the role when she was 8, and her excitement about meeting the Spice Girls is something I’ll never forget!”

Richard’s snaps come after he claimed his daughter was treated “appallingly” by “well-known names” when she worked as a production runner for two years in October.

The star became furious as she recalled the poor treatment her daughter Olivia, who is now a casting director, received on set.

When asked what the most “underrated” role in the film industry was, Richard was quick to say that it was actually the runner.

A production runner works behind the scenes to assist the producer and director and perform multiple different jobs when instructed.

But Richard, who has worked with his fair share of runners throughout his career, said they often have the toughest job of all.

He told Sky News: ‘The runners who paid the least amount of money. They are the youngest, they arrive at five in the morning and they are the last to leave.

“And if something goes wrong, they do it from a dizzying height.”

‘I know, because my daughter was a runner for two years and was treated appallingly by some well-known names who changed their minds when they found out who her father was.

‘Which made it worse. That made me condemn those people even more.

Richard shares Olivia with his wife of 35 years, Joan Washington, who died in 2021 after a battle with stage four lung cancer. He also has a stepson, Tom, from Joan’s previous marriage.

The actor admitted that he once confronted the familiar name and called the person out on his behavior.

Richard previously revealed the ‘amazing mantra’ he has followed since his late wife’s death.

Joan, a dialect coach, tragically passed away at age 75, eight months after being diagnosed with cancer.

The actor told how his wife gave him words to live by in the days before her death, which has helped him cope with the “abyss of grief” ever since.

Speaking on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with Helena Bonham Carter, he said: “She told me four days before she died, she told my daughter and me: ‘I know you’re going to be sad, but try to find a pocket full of happiness in daily”.

“It’s been an incredible mantra to navigate the abyss of grief these past 15 months and I’m grateful for it.”
