Richard E. Grant claimed his daughter was treated “appallingly” by “well-known names” when she worked as a production manager for two years.

The renowned actor, 67, became furious when he remembered the poor treatment that his daughter Olivia, 35, – today a casting director – received on the set.

When asked what the most “underrated” role in the film industry was, Richard was quick to say that it was actually runners.

He told Sky News: ‘The runners who paid the least amount of money. They are the youngest, they arrive at five in the morning and are the last to leave.

“And if something goes wrong, they do it from a dizzying height.”

‘I know, because my daughter was a runner for two years and was treated appallingly by some well-known names who changed their minds when they found out who her father was.

‘Which made it worse. That made me condemn those people even more.

Richard shares Olivia with his wife of 35 years, Joan Washington, who died in 2021 after a battle with stage four lung cancer. He also has a stepson, Tom, from Joan’s previous marriage.

The actor admitted that he once confronted the familiar name and called the person out on his behavior.

And he added: “I have met one person, yes, and I will never speak to him again.”

Olivia has worked on the Apple TV+ series Masters Of The Air and Lee Miller’s recent biopic Lee.

Richard previously revealed the ‘amazing mantra’ he has followed since his late wife’s death.

Joan, a dialect coach, tragically passed away at age 75, eight months after being diagnosed with cancer.

The actor told how his wife gave him words to live by in the days before her death, which has helped him cope with the “abyss of grief” ever since.

Speaking on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show with Helena Bonham Carter, he said: “She told me four days before she died, she told my daughter and me: ‘I know you’re going to be sad, but try to find a pocket full of happiness in daily”.

“It’s been an incredible mantra to navigate the abyss of grief these past 15 months and I’m grateful for that.”
