Australian fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow revealed the details of her dramatic fight after she fired her older sister Amy from her company.
Amy used to work for Tammy’s sports brand, Saski, but was fired after their relationship became “volatile” following the change in their power dynamic.
Tammy recently sat down with Mamamia co-founder Mia Freedman for an episode of the journalist’s show ‘Unfiltered‘podcast titled ‘Tammy Hembrow’s Body Business’ where she told the story.
‘I ended up having to fire [Amy] and our relationship was very, very bad for quite a long time,” he said. “It was such a buildup [of tension] and we couldn’t work together.
‘There are blurred lines when you’re family. Amy is my big sister, she is the oldest of all of us. She thought she was my boss, but I was her boss. It just wasn’t working. I was very passionate about Saski and she wasn’t, which was part of it.

Letting her sister go was a difficult decision for Tammy because all of her employees are friends or family.
‘My general manager at Saski is my best friend from high school, Bella. All of my employees are literally all friends.
‘We have our office and warehouse. And next to it, we have Tammy Fit. The CEO of Tammy Fit is Crystal, who is my sister’s husband’s sister.
‘I’m very selective about who I bring into my circle and who I trust. That’s why everyone who works for me comes from a friend or someone I know.’

“We’re very good at separating our friendship from work,” Tammy said. “We may have disagreements in our [personal lives] and that they do not leak into our work.’
As her employer, Ms. Freedman noted that Tammy owns the company, pays salaries, and pays rent on all of its buildings, which can lead to a bit of a hierarchy when it comes to interpersonal relationships.
However, the fitness influencer said that people around her rarely treat her differently because of her fame and fortune, and that hasn’t changed their dynamic at all.

‘I feel like [me being an international celebrity] It doesn’t have much impact. It is not a big thing. They just know me as me.’
Tammy also revealed that she could always count on her family to help her in times of need.
“It’s really hard to juggle my life,” he said.
‘I pride myself on being a hands-on mom, so it’s hard to balance everything. I’m always pulled in 20 different directions.
‘But my mother is always there to look after my children if I need her, and I take my daughter to the office with me all the time. I’m working on proposals while she runs around… some days are easier than others.’
