Coach Thomas Reis from Bundesliga club Schalke 04 promised Hertha BSC a hot dance in the “relegation final” on Friday (8:30 p.m. / DAZN).
“Hertha BSC must feel in every situation that there will be nothing for them here,” said Reis in an interview with the newspapers of the “Funke Mediengruppe”.
For the 49-year-old, only victory counts. “It may not be a nice game – but I don’t give a damn,” said Reis, who called for a reaction from his team after the defeats against Bayer Leverkusen (0: 3) and at TSG Hoffenheim (0: 2): “It has to come, I expect it. We have to want to win the duels with all our might.”
Schalke is bottom of the table seven games before the end of the season, Berlin is penultimate with just one point more.
“Thanks to our mentality, we managed not to lose eight games in a row and to fight our way back. We were close to the limit, it cost the team a lot of energy. In the last games of the season we have to make sure that we get back to them 100 percent,” said Reis, who is “still firmly convinced of staying up.”
