A Los Angeles homeowner was shocked after seeing a man playing on a tree outside his Hollywood mansion before the suspected arsonist started a fire.
The LA Fires have razed neighborhoods as 40,600 acres have been scorched in the past two weeks – but it appears a man has been caught on camera trying to start another fire in Hollywood.
Mission: Impossible actor Ricco Ross woke up Monday to reports that someone had tried to start a fire with a palm tree in his neighborhood on Fuller Street around 6:30 a.m.
“I woke up this morning and heard that someone had set fire to a tree two doors down to try to start a whole fire in West Hollywood,” he said as he walked through his Melrose neighborhood.
“He drops a match here and then just starts walking down the street,” he explained before telling his followers that he was going to try to find the suspected arsonist.
Surveillance footage shared by Ross showed a man in a light-colored hoodie stop near a tree and appear to throw something before calmly walking away.
As he walked away, you saw sparks flying from the tree onto the ground.
Smoke can be seen coming from the tree as firefighters spray it, a separate video shows showed.

The Palisades Fire, which started on January 7 and is only 43 percent contained, has caused mass destruction in Los Angeles, burning 23,700 acres.
The idyllic Palisades neighborhood has gone from a celebrity haven to something that now resembles a smoldering apocalyptic hellscape.
Hundreds of posh multi-million dollar homes are now nothing more than piles of rubble and ash, with little evidence left of the treasured heirlooms and household items that once adorned the walls.
Partly buildings that remain standing offer little glimpse of the glamor they once exuded. Instead of picturesque buildings with perfectly manicured lawns, the properties paint a portrait of the horrific fires.
