A van driven by the fugitive friend of murdered Melbourne mother Ellie Price was reportedly seen in a small town 240 km from the murder scene.
The 26-year-old was found dead on May 4 in her South Melbourne mansion, but police believe she was murdered several days earlier.
A nationwide manhunt for mafia figure Ricardo ‘Rick’ Barbaro, 33, continues after the gruesome discovery of his mutual partner.
Police in Stawell – a two-and-a-half-hour drive north of Ms. Price’s house – received a report that Barbaro’s 2009 Toyota Hiace white van had been spotted in the regional city, according to the Herald Sun.
It is believed that a local man saw the van in Stawell’s main street last week and noted the number plate.
On Friday he saw media reports about Barbaro’s van and the next day he warned the police.
Barbaro was recently released from prison after allegedly attacking 26-year-old Mrs. Price, and is said to appear in court in September on a separate charge.

Police in Stawell – 2.5 hours north of Ms. Price’s house – received a message that Barbaro’s 2009 white Toyota Hiace van was spotted in the regional town
Victoria police declined to comment on the validity of the alleged sighting.
Daily Mail Australia does not suggest that Barbaro murdered Ms. Price, only that he is wanted by the police for questioning her death.
Police say Ms. Price likely suffered a “violent” attack on April 28 or 29 and may have been dead for five days before her body was found.
Mrs. Price’s mother Tracey Gangell alleged that her daughter had been a victim of domestic violence through her friend.
Ms. Gangell told Daily Mail Australia that her daughter had been beaten by Ricardo Barbaro in the months leading up to her murder.
“It was he who did that to her. He cut her, “she said.
Ms. Gangell said her daughter had been seeing Barbaro since August last year.

Detectives have asked Barbaro to come forward and assist in their investigations.
“We have a young 26-year-old woman who died prematurely. She has a family that mourns her and a community that needs and deserves answers, “said Detective Tim Day last week.
Barbaro is the brother of Sydney’s murdered underworld boss Pasquale Timothy Barbaro, who was shot in a 2016 gangland hit.
His other brother, Rossario Dom Barbaro, committed suicide a few months later.
Another brother, Harley Barbaro, is an alleged villain gang member living on the Gold Coast.
All four are the sons of Giuseppe ‘Joe’ Barbaro – a cousin of gangland figure Pasquale Barbaro, who was shot dead in a van with Jason Moran while watching a football game for children in 2003.
A year later, Joe Barbaro’s three-week-old daughter Montana was snatched from her car seat at a shopping mall in the western suburbs. She was found in a derelict house with her head shaved days later.
Some members of the Melbourne Barbaro family are associated with the Calabrian Mafia, centered in the city of Griffith in New South Wales.
Barbaro’s last known address was in Southport, Queensland.
Anyone who sees Barbaro should not approach him, but should call triple zero or Crime Stoppers.
