A Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star has shocked viewers after making a scandalous claim about using oversized tampons to prevent urination.
Mary Cosby, 51, made an incredible statement on the October 2 episode of the series, in which the cast traveled to Milwaukee to attend a basketball game.
When her co-star Angie Katsanevas asked her if she needed to go to the bathroom, Mary replied, “No, I don’t use public bathrooms.”
She continued: “I always use a tampon and it keeps it in.”
Taken aback by the strange admission, Angie asked, “Is that real?”

Mary doubled down and said, ‘I promise.’ Get a tampon. “You won’t have to pee all the time.”
Later, explaining the dubious trick to producers, Mary smiled and said: ‘It’s worked for me for years!
“If you’re going to be gone for a long time and have errands to run, just insert that bad boy in there,” he continued.
But make sure it is a large size. It can’t be the medium one or the small one!’
After the episode aired, Mary’s castmate Heather Gay endorsed the bizarre method on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen.
‘I know a couple of my co-stars have tried it and attest that it works!’ she said.
Viewers were shocked by the claim and many took to social media to express their disgust and confusion.

‘Why do I think that’s the quickest way to get a UTI?’ asked one.
“My jaw was on the floor when he said this,” wrote another. “Not only is that very unhygienic, but it also smells horrible.” I can’t imagine doing this, the heat and humidity are a breeding ground for an infection, whether it’s a yeast infection or a bladder infection.’
However, several people online also came to Mary’s defense.
“She’s crazy, but I will say that I pee a lot less with a tampon in,” one fan wrote on Reddit.
‘Tampons can help with incontinence problems in women. “Some women after having children use them when they exercise, after having children, to prevent leaks,” wrote another.
Using tampons when you are not on your period is generally considered dangerous as it increases the risk of developing toxic shock syndrome.
Another problem with using tampons when you don’t have your period is dryness and possible infections, since the tampon can absorb the natural moisture of the vagina.
Mary has been one of the most controversial characters on RHOSLC since its premiere in 2020.
The glamorous preacher married her stepfather after the death of her grandmother.
She described their union as an “arranged marriage” and admitted it sparked jealousy between her and her mother, who also wanted to marry him.
