Rhonda and Ketut appear in new AAMI ad with their baby to encourage people to get the shot

Rhonda and Ketut captured the hearts of Australia with a series of successful ads for insurance company AAMI, which began nearly a decade ago.

And the iconic TV couple have returned to screens with a brand new ad encouraging people to get vaccinated against Covid-19.

Ketut – played by actor Kadek Mahardika – tells viewers in a FaceTime call: ‘Eyes on the future Australia. Vax up’, revealing a bandage on his arm.

He then turns the camera around and has Rhonda, played by actress Mandy McElhinney, sit back in a sunroom, dressed in an intricate caftan, and rock their child.

“What daddy said eh,” she says to their little one, adding, “Vax Australia up, like a sunrise.”

‘Like a sunrise’ became the slogan of Rhonda and Ketut’s love story within the viral campaign, which began in 2012.

Their summer fling then turns into a long-term relationship when Ketut reunites with Rhonda at her high school reunion, the last ad for the campaign in 2014.

Last year, AAMI was able to persuade Ketut to perform another gig after a fan expressed concern about how the pair were holding up amid the coronavirus pandemic.

In the video he said to the fans: ‘Hello Australia, here’s Ketut. I hear you all wanted to know how me and my beautiful wife Rhonda are,’ confirming that the couple is married.

Ketut explained that Rhonda couldn’t get to him because she was busy “homeschooling the kids.”

“Hope you are all doing well during the lockdown and keep warm, like a sunrise,” he concluded with a wink, using the famous slogan.
