Cottish ear plug specialist RHA is releasing a new accessory today, which should be useful for users of any brand of wireless headphones. Called the wireless flight adapter, the main goal is to establish the connection between an aircraft's in-flight entertainment system and your wireless headphones. It takes up to 16 hours on a load, according to RHA, that you have to cover for the majority of even the longest flights. But there's nothing to stop you from using this thick dongle to add a Bluetooth audio connection to gadgets that don't have it, such as the Nintendo Switch or a hipster vintage iPod.
A wireless flight adapter is one of those gadgets that I never think I need until I find out that it exists and I realize that it would indeed be nice to finally be able to use my expensive noise-canceling headphones to consume the film selection flight. The RHA dongle is of course not the only one, and there are already a few others, but the strong record of the audio equipment company gives me more confidence that all details would be correct. For example, it's nice that you can pair multiple headphones with the RHA adapter and that the company supports that industry-leading 16-hour battery life with USB-C charging, which most other alternatives seem to miss. Support for Bluetooth 5 and AptX plus a range of more than 10 meters complete the RHA specification sheet with handy checkbox functions.
The RHA Wireless Flight Adapter is offered for sale today for a price of $ 49.95 / € 49.95 / £ 39.95.
