Eddie Jones has committed to coaching the Wallabies, despite speculation over his future following Australia’s disappointing performance at the Rugby World Cup in France.
Speculation is rife that Jones is in the running for a coaching job in Japan, something Jones has strenuously denied.
Jones said he believed he made the right decision to take a young team to France, despite the Wallabies failing to qualify for the quarter-finals for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Jones was appointed to the role in January, just eight months before the Rugby World Cup. His team has won only two of the nine matches under his leadership.
Despite speculation about his future, Jones said he believed he had the support of Rugby Australia.
“I believe so, but we have to do an evaluation and the results have been disappointing and everyone is gutted,” Jones said.
“Especially myself, but I stand by the decisions we’ve made and I think we’ve left Australian rugby in a better position.”
