A huge fire has devastated a factory in Sydney’s south-west.
The fire on Fitzpatrick St in Revesby is sending large plumes of black smoke skywards.
Fire and Rescue NSW first received reports of the fire at 2.10pm on Tuesday afternoon.
There are 20 fire crews at the site of what is believed to be a scrapyard.
It is not yet known if anyone was injured, but paramedics arrived around 2.30pm in case anyone needed treatment.
A huge fire (pictured) has engulfed a factory on Fitzpatrick Street in Revesby, south-west of Sydney.
“That looks bad, I hope everyone is out,” a witness is heard saying in a video obtained by 7News.
“All that water you just dumped there doesn’t seem to have done anything.”
Firefighters said from the scene that their challenge was “not only to put out the fire but also to stop its spread.”
The fire scene is very close to Bankstown airport and planes are still flying by.
The airport serves charter and private business flights, cargo, aeromedical services, aircraft maintenance companies, emergency services and flight schools.
NSW Police said Fitzpatrick St and Milperra Road are closed due to the fire.
Residents in the area are urged to stay indoors and keep windows closed due to smoke.
More to come.
