Adam Wharton’s brother has embarked on a mammoth road trip to Germany to support him during England’s Euro 2024 campaign this summer.

Crystal Palace youngster Wharton caught the eye after a series of impressive performances in midfield last season and was named in the Three Lions’ final 26-man squad under manager Gareth Southgate. He may make his competitive debut this month.

Just a few months ago, Wharton, just 20, had been plying his trade alongside his older brother Scott at Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.

Scott is currently recovering from extensive knee surgery and was informed by doctors that he could not travel to Germany to see Adam in action.

But that has not stopped him from finding an alternative solution with Adam, but rather from embarking on a long journey that will take him across the continent.

“I can’t fly for two months and it’s already been six weeks,” Scott said, via ITV Granada.

“So my partner and I will drive to Hull to catch the ferry to Rotterdam and then drive to Dusseldorf where we will stay for the first match.

“So it’s more of a road trip, I’m looking forward to it!”

Adam, like his brother, progressed through the Blackburn academy.

Wharton joined Palace during the winter transfer window in a move worth £22.5million and went on to make 16 top-flight appearances last season.

Wharton was an unused substitute during the Three Lions' first 1-0 win against Serbia.

Despite playing just 30 minutes for England in a friendly and being introduced as a substitute against Bosnia, Southgate included the youngster in his Euro group.

“Honestly, I feel like a proud father,” Scott added. “The family is obviously very proud of him, of how far he has come in such a short time.

“At the beginning of the season, I don’t think anyone would have predicted what happened to him.

“So the fact that he’s coming to England and playing with some of the best players in the world is just incredible.”
