Tottenham fans would prefer to see their team lose to Manchester City to prevent Arsenal from winning the Premier League title, Mail Sport can reveal.

Mikel Arteta’s men remain in the hunt for their first title in 20 years with the exciting race approaching the final day of the season.

However, defending champions Manchester City remain favorites to secure a fourth successive title ahead of their clash against Ange Postecoglou’s side on Tuesday.

A result for Tottenham will allow Arsenal to take control of their own destiny ahead of Sunday’s final match.

It’s a dilemma that has seen some Spurs fans want their own team to lose, even though a win would keep them in the hunt for Champions League qualification.

Mail Sport conducted a poll on X to see where Spurs fans stand in this uncomfortable scenario.

The results were closer than expected: 52% of 531 voters were in favor of a home defeat against Pep Guardiola’s men.

Those fans might be disheartened by the fact that their team has won its last four home league games against City.

The defending champions have only had one once at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having claimed a 1-0 victory in the FA Cup earlier this year.

The two teams could not be separated in December when they drew 3-3 at the Etihad.

On Monday, Postecoglou insisted that “100 percent” of Tottenham fans want their team to win even if it gives the title to Arsenal, and wanting to lose under any circumstances “is not what sport is about.”

“I understand the rivalry, I was part of one of the biggest in the world in recent years with Celtic and Rangers,” Postecoglou said. “But I’ll never understand if someone wants their own team to lose.”

‘Sport is not about that. That’s not what I love about the game. What I like most is competitiveness, challenging yourself to beat someone and come out successful. Anything outside of that has nothing to do with sport.

‘If other people want to treat it that way, let them enjoy other people’s misery, that’s not how I’ve lived my life and that’s not how I perceive my role. My role is to make this football club successful and I know that 100 per cent of Spurs fans want us to win, to be successful and to win trophies.

“Winning tomorrow night will help us bring joy to 100 percent of Spurs fans.”
