- Garcia says West will take him out for his fight with Devin Haney
Troubled boxing superstar Ryan Garcia has been labeled by some on social media as “the Kanye West of boxing” in recent months and the comparison certainly has some merit.
Garcia, who will face WBC super lightweight champion Devin Haney for his title on April 20 in a highly anticipated fight in New York, has made headlines for his alarming activity on social media and in interviews.
Earlier this week, Garcia posted that Australian porn star Savannah Bond had accepted his marriage proposal after filing for divorce from his wife Andrea Celina in January, after she had given birth to their second child.
He expressed concern on March 3 when a disturbing video claiming Garcia was dead after having his “throat slit” was shared on his social media accounts, marking the first in a series of troubling posts from the boxer during the next 72 hours.
Some fight fans have labeled boxer Ryan Garcia (pictured) “the Kanye West of boxing.”
Kanye West (pictured) has become well known in recent years for his controversial behavior.
Garcia also alleged that he was raped by a family member when he was two years old, has photographic evidence of the existence of aliens, and has witnessed the rape of children after being tied up in the forest by “the elites.”
He then continued his bizarre rant by claiming that an earthquake will “destroy” Hollywood and Las Vegas while labeling X boss Elon Musk the “Antichrist.”
Kanye West, who has also partnered with a sometimes scantily clad Australian model, has become known for his controversial comments and often unhinged behavior in recent years.
The rapper said he “likes” and “loves” Hitler,” defended Nazis and denied the Holocaust during an appearance on Alex Jones’ Infowars podcast in 2022 that many viewers described as a live mental breakdown.
Wearing a cloth mask that covered his entire face, West ranted: “I see good things in Hilter…every human being has something of value that he has contributed, especially Hitler.”
He later said that the Germans “had a really good leader at one time” and denied that Hitler had ordered the deaths of six million Jews.
‘He did not kill six million Jews. That’s objectively incorrect,’ West said in what were, to some extent, his most anti-Semitic comments to date.
‘I’m not trying to be shocking. I like hitler. The Holocaust is not what happened…Hitler has many redeeming qualities,” he stated.
Both Ryan Garcia and Kanye West have partnered with Australian models.
Ryan Garcia sparked concern among fans and fellow boxers after recent behavior
Even Jones, no stranger to controversy, appeared visibly uncomfortable at times during the three-hour broadcast.
During a recent interview, García revealed that he had asked the American rapper to accompany him to the ring for his fight with Haney; However, the rapper refused due to comments the boxer had made about Sean Love Combs (aka P. Didi).
In a lengthy rant about
Then on Monday, the boxer did a 180 and announced that West will accompany him to the fight against Haney at the Barclays Center in New York City. Whether it happens or not is anyone’s guess.
Garcia heads into April 20 with a record of 24-1 and 20 knockouts, with his only loss coming against Gervonta Davis in April 2023. He has since bounced back with a win over Oscar Duarte in December.
Meanwhile, Haney is undefeated, with 31 wins and 15 knockouts. He is coming off two consecutive wins against George Kambosos Jr, followed by wins over Vasiliy Lomachenko and Regis Prograis.
