Deciding which streaming services to subscribe to seems like an increasingly impossible task.
As more and more sites flood the market and subscription prices continue to rise, Americans may have a hard time knowing which platforms offer the best TV shows and movies for their money.
a new study from NetCredit analyzed the top eight streaming services to calculate which platforms offer the best value.
While it found that Netflix offers the best value for quality TV shows, Amazon Prime Video tops the charts when it comes to new movies.
Meanwhile, Disney+ has the highest share of top-rated movies, according to the study.
NetCredit, a personal loan company, targeted the top eight US streamers: Netflix, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Prime Video, Apple TV, Peacock and Paramount+.
He also discussed the Disney+ and Hulu bundle, which launched in March.
The study recorded the new movies and television series released on each platform between January 2023 and July 2024, as well as the IMDb user ratings associated with each title.
It then calculated the value of each platform by calculating the subscription cost for each newly released, highly rated title for 18 months of an ad-free plan.
Amazon Prime Video offers by far the best value for quality new movies, at an average of $1.95 per title, according to the study.
Netflix offers the second best value on movies, but the price difference compared to Prime Video is significant.
Netflix costs $4.81 per movie with a rating of 7.5 or higher on IMDb, which is two and a half times the price of one of the best movies on Prime.
At the other end of the spectrum, Apple TV offers the worst value for money when it comes to highly rated movies, according to the study.
It is 23 times more expensive than Prime Video: it costs $44.96 per quality title.
Max offers the second-worst value for money, at $30.58 per top-rated movie.
When it comes to TV shows, Netflix ranks first for value for money, according to NetCredit.
Netflix subscribers only pay $2.21 for each top-rated series, compared to $21.58 for Paramount+, the lowest-rated platform.
Prime Video came in second, with $2.25 per top TV show, while the Disney+ and Hulu bundle came in third, with $4.28 for each high-rated series.

When it comes to streamers with the highest proportion of quality content, Disney+ takes first place.
Not only does it have the highest proportion of top-rated movies (26 percent of new releases), but it also has the highest percentage of quality television shows.
Since January 2023, 41.3 percent of the series released on the platform have obtained a score higher than 7.5 out of 10 on IMDb.
It comes as competition between major streaming services continues to increase, causing many platforms to increase their prices for customers.
In July, Paramount announced it would raise the price of its streaming service as it seeks to boost falling profits.
Warner Bros. Discovery also angered customers earlier this year by raising the price of its ad-free Max subscription for the second time.
The price increase from $1 to $16.99 per month for the ad-free tier went into effect in June for new subscribers.
