The UK’s 10 most desirable careers in 2025 have been revealed – and the most sought-after job could surprise you.
The study, conducted by IT training provider tecnovy Academy, analyzed Google search data from last year for terms such as “training near me” and “courses”, covering almost 700 careers.
It identified the most popular job roles and sectors that British workers would like to change in the next 12 months, and the top contender was dog grooming.
A whopping 19,272 searches were carried out each month in the field of canine pampering, both for training courses and job opportunities.
As well as clipping poodles’ paws and shampooing beagles, the UK workforce is also scrambling for jobs as electricians, plumbers and phlebotomists, medical professionals who draw blood samples from patients for testing.
The survey found that this indicates a shift towards careers that have self-employment opportunities and meet personal values.
“Many of the positions in this classification are self-employed or involve working alone, allowing employees to have more control over their work hours, suggesting that this is something that employees are lacking in their current positions,” he said. Ertul Topuzoglu, CEO of tecnovy Academy. .
‘Dog grooming is a fascinating fit for the most desirable career change in the UK.
