OJ Simpson’s official cause of death has been revealed.

The 76-year-old died earlier this month of prostate cancer, said his longtime lawyer, Malcolm Lavergne. TMZ.

Simpson had revealed that he was receiving treatment for cancer before his death, but did not say what type.

Despite denying that he had been in a palliative care facility before his death, it was learned that he was discharged from that facility days before he died.

The notorious double murder suspect, who was found civilly liable for the deaths of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman after being acquitted in criminal court in 1995, has died at his Las Vegas home.

Simpson became one of America’s most infamous figures after being charged with the 1994 murders.

The disgraced football star had revealed he was receiving cancer treatment before his death, but did not say what kind.

The disgraced soccer star’s death was announced on his X account on April 11.

His family said: “On April 10, our father, Orenthal James Simpson, succumbed to his battle with cancer.

“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren. During this time of transition, his family asks that you respect his wishes for privacy and grace. – The Simpson family.’

Goldman’s father said Simpson’s death only serves as a reminder of the agony his family has endured over the years.

“The only thing I have to say today is that this is one more reminder of the loss of my son Ron,” Fred Goldman told DailyMail.com.

“It is yet another reminder of my son’s murder and the many years we have missed Ron.”

Simpson, a former football running back who played 11 seasons primarily with the Buffalo Bills, reinvented himself as an actor before the Brown and Goldman murders.

Although acquitted of the murders, his reputation was forever tarnished and the latter part of his career was marked by a series of sordid enterprises.

After being acquitted, Simpson was found civilly liable for the murders and was later forced to pay $33.5 million in damages to the victims’ families.

He faced more legal problems when he was sentenced to up to 33 years behind bars for armed robbery in Nevada in 2008.

His death comes two months after it was reported that he was battling cancer and receiving chemotherapy.

Simpson was photographed looking frail on several occasions earlier this year while walking through his Las Vegas neighborhood.

But in February he posted a video reassuring fans about his health and saying he was looking forward to the Super Bowl.

Despite a successful NFL career, Simpson was best known for his acquittal following his high-profile 1995 murder trial, dubbed the “Trial of the Century.”

He was charged with the deaths of Brown and Goldman, who were found brutally stabbed outside their Los Angeles home.

The circumstances surrounding his arrest were equally salacious, with the former NFL star leading police on a low-speed chase after learning of the impending charges.

Millions of people tuned in to watch the 90-minute chase of Simpson’s white Ford Bronco through Southern California.

The athlete crouched behind with a gun while his friend Al Cowlings drove, before his eventual arrest in Brentwood.

At trial, prosecutors argued that Simpson was linked to the crime scene through forensic evidence.

In a now infamous moment, Simpson struggled to try on a pair of black gloves believed to have been worn by the killer. One glove was found at the scene and the other near Simpson’s mansion.

Prosecutors said the accused killer acted out of jealousy of his then-ex-wife.
