And Mail Sport understands that former Chelsea manager Potter is emerging as the club’s number one candidate to replace Lopetegui.
Potter is understood to have held talks with the Hammers hierarchy over the past 24 hours with a view to replacing the Spaniard.
Multiple sources acknowledge that Lopetegui’s position is under major threat ahead of the upcoming FA Cup match against Aston Villa.
Potter came close to replacing Lopetegui in November, but the club decided to keep faith with Lopetegui.
