Darcy Moore stopped the Collingwood team’s celebration after their victory over Melbourne on the King’s birthday to include a special person in the club song.
The Magpies overcame their injury problems to dominate the Demons with a 38-point victory at the MCG on Monday, with the annual clash serving as a fundraiser for the FightMND charity.
Neale Daniher watched with pride as a host of celebrities took the traditional icy jump once again this year, including Nic Natanui, Sally Pearson and Pat Rafter.
The day had extra meaning for Pies coach Craig McRae as his brother-in-law, Patty, was diagnosed with motor neurone disease last year.
‘Unfortunately, last year my brother-in-law, my wife’s brother, was diagnosed with MND. For us he is something very close to us,” he told Channel 7 before the game.

Craig McRae’s brother-in-law Patty inspired the team before the game.
Patty visited Pies before the game to give some words of wisdom and Moore made sure not to forget him after the game, inviting him into the team’s inner circle to hear the team song.
“We’re missing someone… Pat, come in here,” Moore was heard saying before the song.
Patty stood between Moore and Jeremy Howe and got caught up in the song.
“Yesterday he came and shared his story with us,” Howe told Triple M after the match.
“He’s an incredible man, it’s the first time I’ve met him, but you immediately feel attracted to him and his outlook on life is really good.
‘I think everyone is inspired by Neale, so a lot of people have a positive attitude about it. He also has two beautiful children and is a good man and we thought we’d include him in the song.’
