Amir Khan has spoken openly about his private chat with Anthony Joshua as the British heavyweight prepares to face Daniel Dubois at Wembley tonight.

Joshua will be looking to become a three-time world champion when he faces Dubois for his IBF belt in front of a crowd of 96,000.

Despite coming into the fight as a slight favourite, and coming off an impressive four-fight winning streak, AJ has been warned to expect a brutal fight.

The 34-year-old weighed in at 252lb 5oz at yesterday’s weigh-in in Trafalgar Square, while Dubois, 27, weighed in at 17st 10lb – the heaviest weight of his career.

Khan met up with Joshua after the event and told him about their conversation.

“I said it simply and sincerely. I just wished him the best and wished him good luck.”

Dubois cut a confident figure after his final showdown with Joshua and Khan believes he could surprise Joshua if he drops his concentration, even for a fraction of a second.

He added: ‘Dubois is a sleeping giant. You can’t ignore him. He’s very dangerous. If AJ stops paying attention to the game, he can get injured.

“Dubois, we’ve seen, has a lot of power. He’s strong. This fight is not easy for Joshua. I think it will be difficult, but as long as he stays focused, he has the skills, the ability, the power. If he sticks to his plan, he will win the fight.”

Speaking to reporters after the uneventful weigh-in, Dubois said his goal is to win “by any means necessary.”

“I’m ready for the fight,” he said. “It’s time to get in the ring and fight now. We’ve been working hard and I’m ready to fight.”

“I consider myself a gladiator and tomorrow I will go up to the arena to perform in front of the people,” said Joshua.

“I started boxing late, but that shows that you can achieve anything. I’m not a garden warrior yet, I’m still on the battlefield.”
