House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer is threatening to hold FBI Director Chris Wray in contempt of Congress for failing to turn over an internal document that Republicans say shows President Joe Biden was involved in a “criminal” scheme with a foreign national.
Unclassified internal form FD-1023 apparently details an “arrangement” for an exchange of money for political decisions, the Republicans said.
If Wray fails to produce the filing by May 30, the committee said it would file contempt of Congress proceedings.
In a letter to Wray on Wednesday, Comer wrote that he was also narrowing the scope of the subpoena for the document by providing two additional terms that can be referenced in the filing: “June 30, 2020” and “five million.”

“The FBI’s refusal to produce this unique document is obstruction,” he wrote.
“The FBI’s mission is to protect the American people. Disclosure of confidential source information could potentially compromise investigations and put lives at risk,’ the FBI told DailyMail.com in a statement.
“The FBI remains committed to cooperating with congressional oversight requests on this and other issues, as we always have.”
Staff at Comer, who is leading the investigation into the first family’s “influence peddling,” met with office officials on Monday who refused to hand over the case.
Monday’s meeting took place after House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said over the weekend that the FBI was close to handing over the potentially damning document.
McCarthy said he spoke with with Wray last week and thought that after their conversation, Republicans would “get this document.”
“I explained to the director that we will do everything in our power, and [that] we have jurisdiction over the FBI – that we have the right to see this document,” McCarthy said.
However, Wray has yet to deliver the document – missing an initial deadline to comply with a May 10 subpoena.
The office’s latest blockage also comes after a second IRS whistleblower came forward, saying he was left out of the Hunter Biden investigation when he spoke about the president’s son benefiting from preferential treatment.
