Report: Suns trading Josh Okogie to Hornets for center Nick Richards

The Phoenix Suns are bringing in a new center.

The Suns reached an agreement with the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday afternoon, trading for 7-foot center Nick Richards. according to Shams Charania of ESPN. In exchange, the Suns will send Josh Okogie to the Hornets along with three future second-round draft picks. The Suns will also receive a future second-round pick from the Hornets in the deal.

Richards has averaged 8.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, his fifth with the Hornets. He was first selected in the second round of the 2020 NBA Draft out of Kentucky, although he has largely come off the Hornets’ bench throughout his career. He has made nine starts this season in Charlotte.

Okogie has averaged six points and 2.9 rebounds per game this season, his third with the Suns. He has averaged about 14 minutes per game off the bench.
