After the muscle fiber tear in former defense chief Nico Schlotterbeck, Borussia Dortmund is threatened with the next injury-related absence of a central defender. At least that’s what a recent media report says.
As “Sport1” reported on Tuesday, Niklas Süle is also threatened with a forced break due to a similar injury. According to the report, the 27-year-old had to cancel team training, which took place in public on Tuesday, due to muscular problems.
Around 1,500 spectators gathered at the training ground in Dortmund-Brackel to watch head coach Edin Terzic’s team practice.
In addition to Niklas Süle, new national player Marius Wolf, who had to pass due to an infection, was also missing.
Süle should also be extremely questionable for the coming weekend. Then BVB in the Bundesliga is a guest at VfB Stuttgart, who are threatened with relegation and who recently landed an important 3-2 away win at competitor VfL Bochum.
BVB defender Schlotterbeck completes an individual session
The 1.95 m giant is a fixture in the black and yellow back four and has already played 35 competitive games across all competitions. In the Bundesliga alone, Süle has played 23 of the 27 games this season so far and has only missed one game since October last year.
The second in the Bundesliga table has not yet commented on a possible downtime of his central defender.
The first representative in the event of a Süle failure against the Swabians would probably be the all-rounder Emre Can at BVB. In the past, he had always helped out in the defense headquarters when it was necessary for personnel reasons.
Incidentally, Nico Schlotterbeck completed an individual training session on Tuesday.
