Firebrand MP Lauren Boebert filed for divorce from her husband after 18 years of marriage on Tuesday – bizarrely stressing in a statement that she has “always been faithful”.
And in a text exclusive to DailyMail.com, my husband Jayson said: ‘I’m torn over this very sad thing. A horrible moment in my life.
I love her too much to speak ill of her. She is the mother of my children and my partner for 20 years. Please just leave me some peace.
Boebert, 36, cited “irreconcilable differences” as a reason for getting upset. A hearing has been set for May 31 in Mesa County Court in Grand Junction, Colorado.
In her statement, the second-year MP said, “It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband.” I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we go through this process.
“I have always been faithful in my marriage and I am a firm believer in marriage, which makes this announcement all the more difficult.”

The Boeberts own a home in Silt, Colorado. “It was with a heavy weight on my heart that I filed for divorce from my husband,” she said. “I am grateful for our years of marriage together”
The couple married in 2005 and share four boys together.
They will soon be grandparents as their eldest son Tyler, 17, is expecting a baby with his girlfriend. She had said the baby was due in April but made no birth announcement.
The couple met when she was 16 and worked at a Burger King, she wrote about in her book ‘My American Life’.
She said they “fell in love immediately.”
Four months after we met, Jayson and I went to get married, Boebert wrote, but said they were turned away from Las Vegas because she was too young.
“For any ‘Karen’ reading this, Jayson and I didn’t break any Colorado laws with our relationship, despite what you might think. It wasn’t a forced marriage.
Boebert entered Congress in 2021 as a pro-gun Republican on the far right of her party. She quickly aligned herself with another controversial figure, Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia – who divorced last year.
She won a narrow victory in November last year, beating Democrat Adam Frisch by just 546 out of more than 327,000 votes.
Before that, she ran a restaurant in Rifle, Colorado called Shooters Grill. where the waitresses had guns on their hips.
The restaurant closed last summer after the owner refused to renew his lease.
Boebert and her husband both have histories of run-ins with the law.
In 2004, Jayson pleaded guilty and served time in prison for public indecency and lewd exposure.
He was sentenced to four days in jail followed by two years probation, but Boebert has repeatedly claimed that her husband has never flashed anyone.
She was dating him at the time and was reportedly banned from bowling.
Jayson’s case marked the first of many the couple’s run-ins with the police.
In 2010, Boebert was arrested after a neighbor accused her two pit bulls of attacking her dog, with Boebert pleading guilty to one count of “dog on the loose” and agreeing to pay a $75 fine.
Five years later, she was arrested for disorderly conduct at a country music festival near Grand Junction after police said she tried to interfere with the arrest of minors caught drinking by minors.
Then, in September 2016, Boebert was charged with reckless driving and operating a dangerous vehicle after rolling her truck into a ditch.
In August last year, Jayson got into a fight with a neighbor and allegedly threatened him and destroyed his mailbox.
During a 911 call to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office, one of Boebert’s neighbors warned police that “there’s going to be shit in here” as Jayson allegedly drove into the neighbor’s yard, The Denver Post reported.
“That’s Lauren Boebert’s jacka*** husband, Jayson. It’s running through my mailbox right now,” the distressed man said.
“Stop jacka**,” he then shouted. ‘Get the f*** out of here. Come on man. What are you doing? What did we even do wrong?

Jayson Boebert told DailyMail.com: “I’m torn about this very sad thing. A horrible time in my life. I love her too much to speak ill of her, she is the mother of my children and my companion for 20 years. Please just let me have some peace’

“I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve intimacy and love as we go through this process,” Boebert said.

Boebert and her husband both have histories of run-ins with the law. Boebert has previously been charged with reckless driving and operating a dangerous vehicle after rolling her truck into a ditch in Garfield County, Colorado in 2016. She was later arrested and jailed in 2017 (pictured) for failing to show up to his audience.
Boebert could be ousted from Congress the next term by a Democrat who has significantly outplayed her or a Republican who says her Colorado voters are “done” with her “immature” antics.
Last week, she attracted a main Republican opponent: 65-year-old conservative radio personality Russ Andrews.
Boebert was first elected in 2020 and, along with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, first made headlines for pushing the QAnon conspiracy theory in online publications.
Both lawmakers have since stepped down.
She also turned heads for her overt love of guns — even brandishing a gun during a congressional hearing.
