Renae Marsden inquest: pain of the family of the suicide victim, as Camila Zeidan testifies

An alleged “catfish” received sexual photos and videos from her former lover for her suicide, a court has heard – while her afflicted family is falling apart.

Camila Zeidan, 27, is accused of inventing a fake internet friend for two years for Renae Marsden, 20, before she died in 2013 of suicide at The Gap in Sydney.

The police claim that Camila was “Brayden Spiteri” for almost two years before Renae tried to break her friendship with her forever.

Camila claims that she and Renae invented Brayden so that they could still be together despite the disapproval of others, and admitted today that she received “countless photos and videos of a sexual nature” while posing as Brayden.

She repeatedly told the court that she did not “remember” the most important details of the run-up to her suicide.

But at the end of a long day of witnessing at the Coroner’s Court of NSW, the investigating counselor Sasha Harding told Camila: “You are not telling the truth.

“We can hear from the courtroom that nobody believes you, Camila,” she said, referring to panting and crying in the complex.

“This is a chance to come clean and tell the family what happened on the fifth (of August).”

The court heard at 8 p.m. on the day that Renae died, Camila brought Renae’s mother to “the home of Brayden’s sister” – although Brayden never existed, the court heard.

“I don’t remember I named a house, I just remember driving around,” Camila said.

But Coroner Elaine Truscott said, “You say that intentionally to prevent you taking the responsibility of taking Renae’s mother on a wild goose hunt?”

She had the choice to say something … she still denies it

“No, I am not,” Camila said.

Brayden ‘, on the day of her death, Renae’s mother, Teresa, had sent a text with the text:’ Pick out your daughter and threaten to commit suicide ‘.

Camila said today: “I just sent her (the Brayden message) because I was worried. I didn’t know how serious it was. “

Renae had exchanged a series of messages with Camila and her alter ego Brayden the day she died.

The coroner examines whether Renae has discovered that she was catfished before her death.

Court attorney Sasha Harding asked Camila why she did not intervene when the woman she loved threatened to kill herself.

‘You claim that you loved each other so much that you are together in this fantasy.

Why didn’t you go to Teresa’s house as Camila … intervened as a friend? ”

“You had contact with her all day,” Mrs. Harding said. “You were Brayden, you sent her 42 messages.”

When Mrs. Harding pointed out that the Camila family “couldn’t say goodbye to Renae,” Camila said, “Me neither.”

Camila also admitted that her relationship with Renae, such as Brayden, was “sexual.”

Outside the court, Renae’s mother, Teresa said: “We have been robbed. We have waited seven years for this and we have nothing. “

Renae’s little sister Monique, 14, said: “She had the choice to say something. She took my sister away and she still denies it. “

Her brother Luke said with tears: “I look around and see my family in tears. I would not wish this my worst nightmare. No family deserves to be broken like this. “

Her father Mark said Wednesday – the day the family expected answers – was “very moving” and that the investigation was to some extent worse than losing Renae

“It was a very harrowing day for us.”

The investigation continues.

‘You can’t escape’: the court hears 54 missed calls from Camila to Renae

Earlier the court heard that one evening Camila had missed Renae 54 and warned ‘you can’t escape … I own you’.

Mrs. Harding’s counsel today read out an email that Camila wrote to Renae, allegedly showing her “obsessive” attitude toward Renae, before creating Brayden’s identity in 2011.

“Baby, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love youuuuu,” Camila’s email began.

Renae Marsden (left) and Camila (right) went to Mt St Benedict’s College together and had a relationship at school. Renae continued after school, but the investigation has heard claims that Camila was actively trying to break up their relationship – and then catfished her as a man named “Brayden”

“I’m going to eat you in a second baby,” continued the email from Camila that they had in a relationship.

“I miss you more than anything and I swear, honey, someone you ever take away from me will regret it.

“I had 54 phone calls last night, Camila. That’s damned. I’m sorry, but that’s possessive. If you can’t see that, then something is terribly wrong with you ‘.

“I’ll be a Kung Fu Panda and smash them.

‘I swear, kid, you’re not going anywhere.

“You kill me, I’ll be your ghost. You hate me, I will still love you. Run away, you chase …

‘LMAO you have no way to escape, darling, because only I am in love with you, only I will possess you and only I will have you forever.

“You cheat and I’ll make it sad.

“I don’t think you have anything of this love.

“Sorry, but you must know that I am too in love with you and obsessed with you.”

When Mrs. Harding asked Camila about describing her relationship with Renae as “obsessive,” she said, “I’m talking about … Well, I loved her.”

In the following years Mrs. Zeidan would create Brayden who communicated continuously with Renae.

Mrs. Zeidan admitted today that Brayden never existed.

She claimed to have invented Brayden together with Renae so that they could be “together” if no one accepted that they could be a couple.

“You say that today but it makes no sense,” Harding told the court.

“You wanted Renae for yourself and created Brayden was the perfect opportunity because it meant you could have her all to yourself.”

“I’m going to kill them both, break their necks”: Camila’s e-mail about Renae Marsden

Renae Marsden had a blunt response to allegedly 54 missed calls from Camila in one night: “That’s f *** ed.”

The court heard in another e-mail from 2008 to Renae that Camila spoke of two friends who, according to her, had made a remark about their relationship.

She described them as’ small f *** and ‘drop kick skanks, I f *** and’ she hates death, I want them dead now Renae …

“I’m going to kill them both, I’ll break their necks out of place.”

She called them “fat dirty mother *** ing c *** s” and said “no one ever says s *** about me and my babies.”

Mrs. Harding said, “That’s a very extreme reaction to someone who makes a comment about your response to Renae.”

Camila said: “Of course I cared for her and I loved her …”

Mrs. Harding: “Do you think that’s a reasonable answer?”

“It isn’t now, but I don’t know what I was going through at the time,” Camila said.

“I had 54 phone calls last night Camila … I’m sorry, but that’s possessive”: Claims accused catfisher “hunting” for Renae

During Wednesday’s hearing, Camila repeatedly said “I don’t remember” to incidents with Renae.

The investigation also heard claims that Camila was actively trying to break Renae’s relationship with her friend, Angus, with whom she went out after school.

Facebook messages that were offered during the investigation between Camila and Renae in 2011 show the victim of suicide that Camila’s behavior is described as ‘f *** ed’ and ‘possessive’.

When Camila complained that he was “second” in Renae’s life, Renae replied: “I’m not lying, OK. I’m sick of saying when I can’t talk.

“I had 54 phone calls last night, Camila. That’s damned. I’m sorry, but that’s possessive. If you can’t see that, then something is terribly wrong with you ‘.

Camila told Mrs. Harding: “I probably tried to talk to her”

Mrs. Harding said, “Even Renae is currently saying that it happened and she herself describes it as possessive.”

Camila said, “It works both ways … I don’t know what was going on at the time.”

In her testimony, Teresa claimed that Camila would be lurking in the driveway of Renae in her car when the suicide victim had a relationship with Angus.

Teresa claimed that she followed them on mother-daughter trips to the local Castle Towers shopping center and that the behavior was “like stalking.” (Camila denied the encounters and claimed she never followed Renae).

Renae and Camila met their mothers in a shopping mall when Renae became frustrated with the alleged behavior, Teresa’s statement to the court.

“Renae told me we should put an end to this. (Camila) must be said to leave me alone and stop bothering me, “Teresa said.

Camila “cursed and made a scene” during the meeting, and Teresa claimed that Camila later grabbed Renae by the arm, followed her to the parking lot, and kept her car door open.

Camila said to the court: “That didn’t happen, so I say, yes, I never grabbed her arm or kept her car open.”

Mrs. Harding said that Camila would not leave her alone today.

“You are almost chasing her. You arrive at places unexpectedly.

When Camila claimed that I had never followed or grabbed her, “Mrs. Harding said,” You didn’t do it physically – but you certainly follow her on the phone.

’54 missed calls. It is not giving up, letting go ‘.

Camila is expected to testify again on Thursday.
