Cheyann Klus was 22 when her father reported her missing after she failed to return to their Downers Grove home in December 2017.

His family posted on social media Sunday that his remains had been found. She was identified last week using dental records, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Twelve days after Klus went missing, a 911 call was made from her phone that pinged a cell phone tower in the Mallard Lake Forest Preserve (pictured), 20 miles from her boyfriend’s house and 18 miles from his house.

“We plan to hold a private memorial service for Cheyann among ourselves, but we hope that everyone can take comfort in knowing that she has been found and respectfully buried.”

In 2017, investigators learned that Klus traveled to Chicago, where she was last seen on the night of December 1 in the 2100 block of North Kilbourn in the Hermosa neighborhood.

Friends said Klus had left home to stay at boyfriend Brian Biddle’s house, where he was having a “private all day and all night party.”

Speaking to the Crime Watch Daily television show in 2018, Cheyann’s friend Chad Chanapai said: “From what I understand, he took his laptop and maybe some items of clothing, and that’s it.”

“(Biddle) said that she was being normal and they were drinking and partying late into the night,” Chanapai said.

The next day, Biddle, 38, reportedly woke up to find her gone. Biddle was never a suspect or person of interest in her disappearance, and he cooperated with police.

Twelve days later, a 911 call was reportedly made from her phone that pinged a cell phone tower in the Mallard Lake Forest Preserve, 20 miles from her boyfriend’s house and 18 miles from her home.

The 948-acre park was searched on December 22, 2017, but Klus was not found and plans were made to try again when the weather improved.

More than 100 staff members and dog teams searched the area a second time, but Klus was not found.

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office did not provide information on where or how Klus’ remains were located.

In a statement, it said: “The Sheriff’s Office worked closely with the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI to successfully identify the remains of Cheyann Klus through dental records last week.”

“The Sheriff’s Office will continue to work with the Chicago Police to investigate the circumstances of his death, but we are grateful to be able to help close the relationship with the Klus family.”
