The remains of a teenager have been found in the body of a crocodile believed to have snatched the boy six days ago.

Locally named as 14-year-old Ricky Ganya, the victim was attacked by the reptile while looking for snails by a river in Rumah Dadat, Tanjung Manis, Malaysia.

He was dragged underwater by the reptile after it jumped out of the water and clamped its jaws around its foot.

Search and rescue teams have captured the 15ft saltwater crocodile two miles from the dock near where the boy was reported missing.

The victim was attacked on July 26 and his family reported missing persons, but the boy’s aunt said she saw the reptile dragging him into the water.

The crocodile was eventually captured for evidence on July 31 and was cut open to the teenagers’ family and the police.

An officer from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations said some clothing and “various parts of a human body” have been found in the animal.

According to local reports, search and rescue teams used a chicken as bait to catch the crocodile.

The body parts removed from the animal’s stomach were sent for an autopsy.

The boy’s remains were taken home by the family to give him a funeral in their village.
