A woman was left furious after her elderly father was served a “disgusting” lunch at hospital.

The woman, known only as Lara, posted a photo of the disgusting meal on social media, showing a plate of four measly potatoes with an unappetizing slice of turkey in a puddle of watery sauce.

Lara’s poor dad received the plate of food while receiving treatment at Glasgow’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has insisted it is committed to providing “fresh, healthy and appetizing” meals, but admitted this meal had “fallen below standards”.

Lara called the hospital food a “disgrace” and made an emotional online post that received support from thousands of social media users.

An image shared online of the lunch shows a blue tray with a simple white plate containing the lackluster dinner.

The four potatoes seem reasonably cooked, but the slice of turkey looks unpleasant with several varieties of colors in the meat.

The entire meal sits in a puddle of orange-tinged sauce, which is more like juice than the thick sauce it’s supposed to be.

Lara wrote: ‘This is the lunch my father was served today at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Glasgow, an absolute disgrace. Disgusting.’

Her post received more than 27,000 likes and more than 5,300 comments from social media users who were left irritated by the level of food offered to patients in Scottish hospitals.
