The families of two Oklahoma girls who say they were drugged with fentanyl at a Cancun resort have criticized Mexican authorities for accusing them of making up the story.
Stephanie Snider, the mother of Zara Hull’s boyfriend who claimed she was attacked along with her friend Kaylie Pitze, took to Facebook to dispel allegations that the girls were simply too drunk.
“They also say that both girls had clean toxicology reports; there was not even a toxicology report done on Zara at the hospital in Mexico,” she wrote.
“They also said that they had contacted the families. They didn’t contact us. They even said that it hadn’t happened in Cancun. They were staying in Cancun, I can assure you. They said other things that are also false.”
After both girls were hospitalized following their fainting episode at the resort, Snider added that both are now “struggling with emotional issues” and “depression” as they recover at home.

Authorities in Mexico have claimed that allegations that two college students had been drugged with fentanyl-laced drinks at a resort are false, which their families have refuted in a scathing post. Pictured: The students moments after the alleged drugging
Snider posted her update two weeks after Hull and Pitzke made headlines with their claims that they were drugged with fentanyl-laced drinks while on vacation with their boyfriends.
Disturbing footage showed them slumped at a poolside bar after consuming the drinks, and their families said they were left in wheelchairs with no memory of what happened to them.
But shortly after, the head of the State Attorney General’s Office (FGE), Raciel López Salazar, said that an investigation found that they were never drugged.
Salazar said the girls’ drug tests came back clean and that the case has been “exaggerated and classified as simple alcohol use.”
“There was no drug trafficking with fentanyl here in Quintana Roo,” he said, adding that they were staying at a hotel in Isla Mujeres, not Cancun.
This development was criticized by Snider in his Facebook post, who said that “they were staying in Cancun, I can assure you.”
Zara Hull and Kaylie Pitze fell seriously ill during their dream vacation in Mexico two weeks ago
Hull was on vacation with her boyfriend (pictured together on vacation in Cancun) along with Pitze and her boyfriend, on what was intended to be a “dream” trip to Mexico.
“I’m not here to argue about this. In fact, I’m not at all surprised that they are trying to dismiss this situation. I’m sure they do NOT want our truth to come out because it would hurt them and their tourism industry,” she continued.
‘Now these girls are dealing with the consequences of what happened to them while they were there. They are home and physically safe, but their lives feel very different.
‘Both girls are struggling with emotional issues from not being able to remember what happened to them but are still suffering the after-effects.
‘They still have some issues with mental clarity and physical stamina. Depression has become an issue, as you’d expect, but they have great support from family and friends and are dealing with these issues as they arise.
‘Even Jake (Zara’s boyfriend) is still struggling with similar issues just because he was trying his best to protect Zara in a different country while overcoming the uncertainty he was facing.’
Hull and Pitze were on a dream holiday with their boyfriends when the horror happened, and have previously described the moment she and Pitze fainted in front of her terrified boyfriend Jake.
“We both went to get water and within two minutes, Jake turned around and we both went to the bar, heads down at the same time,” Hull said.
At first, Hull was unable to breathe on her own and was put on a ventilator, and her loved ones said she is still “struggling with emotional issues” after her ordeal.

Stephanie Snider, the mother of Zara Hull’s boyfriend, took to Facebook to dispel accusations that the girls were simply too drunk when they said they were attacked.
Hull said she experienced seizures before passing out and becoming “basically paralyzed.”
Snider rushed her to the hospital and stayed by her side as staff reportedly demanded thousands of dollars for treatment.
“They had raised the amount they wanted. The minimum was $10,000 to be considered,” Hull said.
“They had me captive. We are university students and we don’t have the money they are asking for.”
Meanwhile, she suffered seizures throughout the night and doctors intubated her.
Amid the chaos of their hospital stays, Snider said he believes they were drugged by people who wanted to harvest or traffic their organs.
“We believe they were planning to take her for trafficking or maybe even to harvest her organs (which we were later told is a common occurrence),” Snider wrote in an emotional Facebook post.
Hull said hospital staff demanded even more money to free her and that the air ambulance to bring her back to the United States cost $26,000.
After officials said their investigations showed the students’ drug tests came back clean, their families claimed no tests were ever performed at the hospital.
A day after drinking the suspicious drink, the group arranged to fly a private plane to Dallas.
In Snider’s most recent update, he said the girls are back home and are “physically safe,” but are still emotionally vulnerable after their ordeal.
“The sad truth is that this is happening. Innocent victims are being drugged,” he wrote. “Their families are being extorted into giving them large amounts of money so they can get out. More bills are piling up as victims receive adequate medical and emotional care while they recover from these horrific criminal acts.
‘Families are in debt by tens of thousands of dollars to save their loved ones.
‘I don’t have to name the resort. We don’t have to name the hospital. There are several resorts that have done this to people. We are here to tell everyone that it is NOT SAFE. Many leave and return home without problems, but many others, like our children, were not so lucky. Some will not return home.
‘Our story is real. It’s very real. We refuse to stoop to the level of these accusers and have this discussion. We don’t have to. I have NOTHING to hide. Please be kind to our children. They’ve been through hell and all they wanted was to stop you from going through it too.’
