The Oscar winner, who has already pursued acting, produced TV shows and movies, and created a fashion line with Draper James, is branching out in a big way.
The Morning Show actress, 48, will co-write a book that will be published next year.
And the man he works with is a huge name in the crime thriller genre.
This is Harlan Coben, author of the best-selling books The Innocent, Fool Me Once, The Woods, and Shelter.
With Witherspoon’s experience in film and television production, there is a strong possibility that the novel will be more like a major motion picture.
Her friend Gwyneth Paltrow loved the idea and commented: ‘Wait, WHAT? How were we texting and you didn’t say ANYTHING about this?!?’

He told the AP: ‘Once we started discussing his idea, there was no turning back. Collaborating with Reese has been a pure pleasure and very creatively rewarding. “I couldn’t be more excited to put this novel out into the world.”
Reese already has a book club that has been very successful and influential.
Under her media company Hello Sunshine, it was founded in 2017.
The club has earned a reputation for launching the careers of authors such as Delia Owens, Celeste Ng and Megan Miranda.
Witherspoon, who recently announced that she had chosen Society of Lies by Lauren Ling Brown as her pick for October’s book club, is not the first actress to collaborate with a prominent fiction writer.

Witherspoon is directly involved in another notable pairing: She and her media company, Hello Sunshine, will produce a film adaptation of the Patterson-Dolly Parton novel Run, Rose, Run.
Last month, Witherspoon teased that she’s working with one of the stars of Bravo’s The Real Housewives franchise on an upcoming project after meeting her on a flight.
And now that Housewife has shown up.
Kyle Richards has confirmed that it was her when she was in a amazon live show.
“Yes, it was, and yes, that was me he was referring to,” Kyle said.

That fueled fan speculation, with many guessing that Reese is working with Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards.
Others thought it was Kyle’s co-star Garcelle Beauvais.
“I’d bet a lot of money it was Kyle Richards,” one wrote on Twitter. “It’s Kyle,” someone else added. ‘It’s probably Kyle Richards! She is already a producer.
“I bet he’s working with Garcelle,” another person chimed in.
There was also speculation that the mystery housewife was Ramona Singer or Erika Jayne.
The Oscar winner also shared that she’s been watching The Bear, The Swans, and Chemistry Lessons.
Reese is nominated alongside co-star Jennifer Aniston for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series, while The Morning Show has 10 Emmy nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series.
This is Witherspoon’s fifth Emmy nomination.
It previously won once in the outstanding limited series or anthology category, for Little Fires Everywhere.
Reese looked lovely on the red carpet in a strapless black and gold dress with floral details.
The 76th annual Primetime Emmy Awards will honor the best in television at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California, on Sunday, September 15.
The ceremony will be hosted by Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, who are making history as the first father-son duo to host the show.
In 2020, the actors took home their respective Emmy Awards for their work on their hit series, Schitt’s Creek, which they created and starred in for six seasons.
