Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth have separated after more than 11 years of marriage.
The two announced the news with a statement published Friday in Witherspoon’s instagramjust days before they celebrated their 12th anniversary on Sunday.
“It is with great care and consideration that we have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the statement said. “We have enjoyed so many wonderful years together and we are moving forward with deep love, kindness and mutual respect for all that we have created together.”
The “Legally Blonde” star, 47, and the former talent agent, 52, tied the knot on March 27, 2011 in Ojai, just months after their engagement.
On September 27, 2012, they welcomed their son Tennessee James, whom the ex-spouses wrote on Friday that they would be “our highest priority.” They said they also plan to focus on “our entire family as we navigate this next chapter.”
In 2016, the actor founded the Hello Sunshine television and film production company, which was behind several series directed by Witherspoon, including “Big Little Lies” and “The Morning Show.” According to your Linkedin ProfileToth has served as a founding member of Hello Sunshine’s board of directors since its inception.
Witherspoon’s company was sold for $900 million in August 2021.
The separation from Toth will be Witherspoon’s second divorce. In 2008, she and her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, with whom she shares children, Ava Elizabeth Phillippe and Deacon Phillippe, separated.
Toth and Witherspoon concluded their statement Friday by requesting that fans respect “our family’s privacy at this time.”
